Identify this CHristmas movie..

I need help in finding a specific christmas movie i used to watch when i was younger.
I was born in 1987 and i’d say i saw this most before i was 5, but we did have it on VHS recorded off TV, so that may not help much in knowing when the film was made.

The name is something along the lines of “The/A Christmas Story” “The/A Christmas Wish” “The/A Santa Clause”.

I only have a few memories of it, one is that there are fake reindeer in it which are stuffed with shredded newspaper. There is a scene where Santa takes off one of the fake reindeer heads and i pulls out a bunch of the newspaper.

Also i think a young male character is disappointed at fake reindeer in a christmas parade.

Finally i THINK there is some sort of clock or something in the shopping center where Santa is, which has a special button or something on it which starts a bit of an elebaorate music/song or something on the clock.

Sorry if this is too vague but it’s been killing me for the past few weeks!

Live action.
I think it also sort of has a semi-serious side to it and isnt just fluff for children, but that could just be my child mind remembering the drama in it.

Is it A Christmas Story ?

I watched it often when I was a kid in the 80s. Did the main character in the movie you watched want a BB gun?

No that’s not it.
However i do remember the movie using the song “Santa Claus is comin’ to town”, although i doubt that’ll eliminate many films.

I must ask the parents tonight if they remember it.

Actually a quick wiki search leads me to believe that im thinking of the movie “Santa Claus : The Movie”, or at least it’s one of the 2 films im remembering in my mind as a single film.

Does anyone know if Santa Claus : The Movie features Santa finding wooden reindeer stuffed with shredded newspaper?
