I saw a movie when I was very young where a man adopts an otter. His neighbor does not like his otter and kills it with a shovel. (I think the man says he accidentally kills it, but Im not completely sure) I would like to revisit this move, any ideas?
I remember this one. I saw it the mid-1970s. I saw it in 16mm projected on a wall in the children’s section of the public library. Freaked me out when the otter got killed at the end. Ring of Bright Water
Are you sure the title isn’t “The Movie That Ruined Everything” because that is sure what it sounds like to me! :(
Thankyou, Ring of Bright Water is exactly right. Very traumatizing movie as a youngster, maybe if I watch it now I will overcome the traumatization.
I remember this movie - I’m still upset at his murder by shovel.
Saw it as a young kid. The bit with the shovel is the only bit I remember. Evidently made quite an impression.
On me as well as the otter.
Otters were my favorite animal when I was a kid. I saw this movie, but like bonzer, all I remember was the murder, which traumatized me.
I have that movie! A friend thought I’d like it and sent it to me. It is a bit of a downer. (But contains the line, “You don’t bite me, and I won’t eat you on Friday.”)
