Identify This Sports Equipment

I was dining in a restaurant that had several antiques on the wall, and one had us perplexed.

It was a 5 foot or so long wooden handle, with a silver semi-circle (about six inches in diameter) at the end. Where the circle was separated, there were three chain links that completed the circle.

So basically you have something that looks like this:

--------------}() <- three links of chain on this end
This item was near some ice hockey memorabilia, which leads me to think it is some sort of sporting good.

Was it a shuffleboard cuestick?

I’m thinking the chain on the semicircle was there to hang the whole thing up on the wall. . .

Tripler
It’s a start. . .

No, it’s set on the wall horizontally, so the chains are not part of the support. (Several screws through the handle did that job)

It looks quite a bit like a shuffle board cue, but with the chain links covering the open end.
