Identify This Tree

I have asked people I know. I have searched google images with many different phrases. I have used the so-called tree identifiers online. This tree is not exotic, yet I can’t find a common or species name for it.

This is a nice google maps street view in Placentia, California. Any dopers know what this tree is called? I need a tree and me and my wife really like this one and would like to see if it is on the approved tree list my city has on their website.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like some kind of cypress to me, but it’s hard to see the foliage in detail.

Could it be podocarpus?

Thats a pine trees bark.

Other podocarpus have stringy bark.

So … Fern Pine - Podocarpus gracilior, syn. Afrocarpus gracilior… its from East Africa.

Excellent! It is indeed Podocarpus gracilior or ‘Fern Pine’ and it is also listed on my city’s approved tree list for the parkway area in front of my house.

Thank you all for responding. As always, The Dope Knows.

There’s lots of them on the street,so the city planted them. Why not email city planning there and ask them?

The City of Placentia may not have planted them. They were likely planted by the developer of the housing tract.

The Dope is the go-to source for things like this.
