Idiot wishing a happy Memorial Day

Is it me or did you just memorialize your objection/disdain for people posting trivial complaints to a tiny, obscure message board?

Pretty neat trick considering MD is tomorrow.

Unless you’re in Japan or something.

I think we get one of these threads every year at this time.

Those soldiers died so that you could have a three day weekend, and you’re getting pissy because some of us think you should enjoy it? While you’re up on that cross, could you check and see if my gutters are clear? KTHX

Wow, you’re brilliant or something.

You know, I knew some clever chap would “spot” that. Good on you. PM me with your address and I’ll send you your certificate.

You know, you’re just nine words short of the OP’s count.

I tried to reply by multiquote, but it didn’t happen. Anyway thanks to Tripolar, Diogenes the Cynic, and Rhythmdvl

OK. I posted about this being trivial. You had the perspicacity to know that, gasp, I, too, had complained about something trivial! They all marveled at your insight, treasured the moment when I fell to my knees and spouted blood like the black knight. You cackled like a James Bond villain. And then… the thread moved on. There was still so much that needed to be said about the horrors of being subjected to a pleasantry, and your minor battle was already won, and nobody could understand while you were still slashing at my corpse. [95].

That reads so much better in the Comic Book Guy voice.

Shit, I should take what I can get–no one marvels at my insights in GD.

Damn. I was hoping I could keep this up until I got pitted. I’ve never been pitted.

The DJ on the radio this morning said that “everyone in the US is celebrating Memorial Day today.” Sure, she’s Thai, but she’s half farang – her father is an American, she grew up in California, and her English is that of a native speaker (this is an English-language station). I agree it sounds odd to “celebrate” this particular holiday itself even if you look at it like it’s their lives that are being celebrated. “Commemorate” would be better.

Depending on the skill level of the cook, you’re often subjected to foul and starchy foods, too.
