IE, AIM crash randomly

Someone please help me out:

I’ve run Adaware, Spybot SD, Norton Antivirus (Latest), everything else, looked at HiJackThis, and still nothing. IE randomly closes. I’ve found that if I go to a java site, this happens most often. I google “java guitar tuner” and click the first link, the browser automatically closes. The same happens with the same site in Opera. Other sites do this as well, but I’m assuming it has to do with java maybe? Then why would AIM just close randomly? Same as IE. Someone please help…

Have you applied the latest update to Microsoft Virtual Machine? This will reinstall the component that interprets java webpages.

Everything in WindowsUpdate is up to date, so it’s not that.

It may be up-to-date, but still corrupt. Perhaps uninstall the updates and re-install them.

I’ve had a problem with IE crashing as well. It happens when I go to monster.com and click on a job search agent. An error report will be generated and sent to Microsoft, and the browser closes and restarts (there’s an auto restart option).

I deleted my agents and re-made them. This worked for one of them, but did not work for another. The one that didn’t work may well have been empty, while the one that did work (which I tried first) opened successfully. So the problem is still there, at least in some cases.

I don’t update Explorer because I’m on a dial-up and it takes forever to download. Besides, “If it’s working, don’t fix it.”

I’ll try the update as Number suggests.

Turns out it was my java after all. I had to uninstall sun’s java and install microsoft’s java platform. This fixed everything, just in case anyone else has had a similar problem. Took me a while to find this fix on google.
