if bin-laden attacks in the balkans, will that draw nato in more?

According to the lead article on Debka ( http://www.debka.com ), there is a chance that Bin Laden will use his forces in the Balkans to attack American troops. Here’s a quote of some of the article:

If US forces were attacked directly in such a manner, would it draw NATO in right away? Are any of the above countries - particularly Bosnia and Albania – accused now of openly supporting Bin Laden?

Right now terrorism is bin Laden’s most effective weapon. An army of his supporters, however numerous, will not have access to high-quality weapons – fighters, bombers, gunships, tanks etc – capable of inflicting serious damage on NATO or EU forces.

I imagine that if such an uprising was to occur, the western forces currently in the area would be withdrawn rapidly to safer positions and bolstered by enough firepower – airborne and land-based – to give the ‘armies’ something to chew on for a while.

Given that half of the trouble in dealing with bin Laden and his forces is in finding them and being able to get enough forces close enough to hurt them, the presence of a large, conspicuous force in Europe would be a PR blessing for the US and Europe. It suddenly provides a large and relatively defenseless (in terms of SAMs, heavy armour and so on) target to bomb seven bells out of.

It would be ironic we supported Bosnia and Albania against the Serbs and now we would be against them…

Don’t see it happening
