Cheney remains president. US and India team up to overrun Pakistan. Nukes fly and nuclear winter results. The end of the human species and cockroaches (other than Cheney) rule the earth.
Aside from providing a convenient excuse to attack whoever we want (“Bush assassinated in Pakistan? Let’s invade Venezuela!”), how would promoting Cheney to POTUS be any different from the last five years?
I’d like to call on someone to put an “if” in the title of this thread. When I first read it I thought “and THIS is how I find out?!”
Also, shouldn’t Pakistan be capitalized 
But what if the assasination were to be faked? Elaborately staged and all? Not now, but at a time closer to the congressional elections? Would we have a 100% Republican Congress along with Chenney as President? Would Chenney heed the call of an agonized populace and run for President when his inherited term was over? Would he win by the largest majority ever? And would he then be allowed by Congress to do any damn thing he wanted to do? Meanwhile, Bush would join JFK on whatever secluded island the government is now using, where he could clear brush and bike ride to his heart’s content. Would Rove ever even consider such a course?
