If I broke my nose I would know it right?

About a week and a half ago I did a face plant on a marble table. Lots of bleeding and gave my self two black eyes to boot.

The black eyes are gone now. My nose doesn’t look with shapen. And no bleeding.

Basically I have none of the symptoms Google tells me I should look for.

But still there’s this bump on my nose now. Can’t really see it but I can feel it. It’s slightly tender. Basically a mild annoyance when I put my glasses on.

I imagine that tenderness will eventually go away. But I’m just wondering did I break my nose?

I’m not a doctor. I haven’t seen your face. Or an x-ray.

But I’m gonna say, “yes”.

The injury significant enough to give you black eyes. Yep. Broken.

If after this long and your breathing is not affected, I wouldn’t pursue a diagnosis from a doctor. IMHO

When people talked colloquially about a ‘broken nose’ what they really meant is separation of the septal cartilage from the nasal (or lattice) bone. No osseous tissue is actually fractured, and in a healthy person the cartilage will reattach in a few days but unless it has been set and braced properly it will likely be misaligned and likely prone to separating again. The description you give certainly sounds like a ‘broken’ nose, and the bump may reduce further as swelling goes down but is likely to persist unless you get surgery to separate and reset the nose properly.
