I just got the rudest spam this morning. Apparently somebody thought they might get my attention to read about their product if they insulted me first. It left me shaking with rage that someone would send such a message to someone they don’t know. I am not going to include the whole email here, just the beginning where they insult and then move into their sales pitch for their product. This message lowers the bar on how low some people are willing to go to sell their product online.
I want that software.
Whats the url of it?
Shaking with rage??? I could see a few seconds of slow burn, but that’s about it. May I suggest the Delete key?
speakeasy, your terminology is closer to what I felt than how I put it, but there was a real feeling of indignation too because until I scrolled down the page to read further (I edited out a bunch of carriage returns between the insult and the advertisement when I posted it here) I thought someone was actually pissed at me and giving me a reaming. I don’t think I have even had ads for porno sites be as insulting as this one was.
Oh, Yeah… That me want to grab my phone and dial their toll free number. But I don’t think I even get thtat far ona spam email. As soon as I see the subject line delete.
Yeah, I got that one. When I saw the subject, I had to open it to see if it was the same one Wanderer got. Did yours have an URL made up to look like a fake angelfire site, too?
The headers reference a “mail.colba.com” but I wasn’t able to find a colba.com to find out if it was possible to report them, although I did send a copy of the message to angelfire as an FYI that someone is trying to make it look like it’s related to them.
From my SamSpade:
Maybe this helps?
I’d have to say that that is one of the most bizarre things I have seen in a long time. What the hell is that? Jesus, maybe sales clerks should just punch the customer before trying to sell them a TV?
If you’ve ever worked retail, you would know that instituting such a policy might drive customers away, but would doubtless raise employee morale by 200%.
Point taken (incidentally, I have worked retail). Although, at least for me, it sure as heck wouldn’t stop at 200%. hell, I’d work for pennies if I got to drop every third guy who walks through the door.
After a long, hard day selling computers, all I can do is smile wistfully and nod. Does this apply to tracking down phone customers and slitting their throats, too?
