I watched the reruns when Disney Channel was doing the Disney Vault thing. I mostly watched for Zorro, but the MMC was okay to watch, too. (I kinda crushed a bit on Annette, which I’m sure I’m not alone.) The live action movies like The Nutty Professor or The Computer That Wore Tennis Shoes were fun too.

Still, I did not get the reference.

I loved MMC when I was little, but I honestly don’t remember “Here’s your ears!”

I do recall laughing every time Donald Duck tried to horn in on the action, though. Even when I was three or four, I understood what was going on!

I didn’t get it, and I used to watch the original MMC all the time in the mid-80’s on Disney Channel. I don’t remember ears being something that were given or earned. They just had them for some scenes.

Was, “Here’s your ears,” something they said on the show? To me, it seems like saying, “Here’s your hammer,” and expecting people to understand a “Thor” reference.

Got it straight away. The original series in glorious black and white was a staple in the 60s on Australian TV.

Maybe they are waiting for…

Thanks guys, honestly, I never mentioned nor did it ever cross my mind to be annoyed or even surprised when someone didn’t get it (or no one as it turned out)- - I’m perfectly happy chuckling to myself. I just welcomed everyone silently to this Mickey Mouse organization.

I just wondered, given the diverse nature of this message board, if anyone would get it. And some did!

I’m 59, and if my boss ever said “here’s your ears” I would automatically respond “you’re an honorary Mouseketeer” and ask which day was Anything Can Happen Day.
