If it's so stupid, why are you giving me this then?

My boss at work, (I will refrain from my usual tirade against his stupidity, as he was recently nice enough to give me paid days off to collect myself this week) left a memo on my desk while I was away for a minute. It is a list of things I need to do today. (Check some gateways, line connections, place test calls, etc) It is about a page and a half long. On the front is a little yellow post-it with Smeghead’s handwriting on it. He has written, “This is stupid and pointless,” and then stuck the post-it to the memo.

What the hell does this mean? Am I supposed to do this stuff, or is it optional? Is this something he wants me to do, or did this come from higher ups in the company (the higher-ups often want us to do things which we give an extra-low priority too)? Old Smeggy has since taken off for the day, so now I’m clueless whether to do the 20-odd little things on this list and waste my time all day or go about my regular duties.

Is your boss usually such an unrelenting asshole? My God how insulting. I usually err on the side of conservatism as far as my ticket to paying rent goes. I would just take care of what is on the list and ignore the post it. If he mentions it play dumb act like you did not see it. If he took the time to put it on your desk he obviously want you to do it. He is also giving you a big fuck you as well (as far as I can tell) and I would think about the implications of that as well.

It wasn’t me, man, I swear!! Someone’s been forging my handwriting! I wasn’t even here. I was out waxing my bowling ball.
