Say the government announces that beginning July 4th 2003, murder will be legal for 24 hours. Would you be around on July 5th?
I can’t hosestly think of anyone that hates me nearly enough to kill me even if there were no consequences.

In my little world, crimes punishable by death would include:
- Moving slowly in the self checkout line of the grocery store
- Taking what I deem too long in the clerked checkout line
- Stopped in the middle of a parking lot
- Blocking an ailse in the grocery store
- Trying to sell me something I don’t specifically want
- Knocking on my door and mentioning jesus, religion, hell, or salvation
- Cutting me off in traffic
- Not letting me merge
- Not doing the speedlimit on the freeway
- Forcing me to explain the same thing to you more than 3 times over ANY length of time
And to cover anything else I’ve missed - Pissing me off.
If you can kill people without consequences then the reasons for killing someone can be quite slight indeed.
I would survive (depending on Mr. DeVena’s mood)
but every supervisor in the protracted hierarchy of dark forces that live in my office building would suffer slow and painful deaths.

Of course I’d be around! Everyone loves me! I’m nice! I’m kind! I spread joy and happiness whenever I smile!
However, my next-door neighbor may be found floating face down in her swimming pool… an unfortunate accident, no doubt.
I doubt I would be around. I’m sure there’s someone out to get me. I just don’t know who.

I’ve had death threats, but one always hopes they aren’t serious. If the threat of punishment or retaliation was lifted, who knows…
Plus, I’m a big target. I’m not sure I’d make it. I think a proactive approach might be best. Do unto thine enemies before they do unto you.
