A very important question came to mind spurred from an AARP radio ad regarding the leadership of Bush, his Administration, and advisors. This is not a direct quote, but the general, overall underlying question is: If there were no WMDs, can we believe in this man to lead the country another 4 years?
“When Bush replied last night that he refuses to pass this “truth standard,” there’s really no other way to interpret his position. He’s saying that he doesn’t have to show you any evidence, because evidence is the sort of thing a Frenchman would ask for.”
Bush never was credible to start with. He is the person who did not let the UN inspectors complete their job. He is the man who did not believe his own inspectors when they said that they had not found any evidence of WMDs. He is the man who defied the request of his allies and declared war on a sovereign nation, that has led to thousand of deaths, and all for absolutely no reason at all. Is it now that he has lost credibility? No! He has been a blatant liar all along! The difference is only that the American people who he successfully misled and lied to, are now waking up. Or at least some of them! That is the real tragedy! If one looks at it closely, the fault is not actually with him. The fault is with the American people at large and are guilty of being gullible. It is the fault of the American people who, despite being citizens of the most powerful democracy, lack the capacity and intellectual capability to discern lies from truths. Why blame him? It is the American people who elected him and gave him the power to do what he is doing! It is the American people who elected him their leader and who let him deceive them! If a people elect a bad leader, it is not the fault of the leader. It is the fault of the people!
