A great deal of people belive in reincarnation of their bodies. Hinduists and buddhists certainly, but the consept is known in Judaism, Islam and Christianity, too. But who are the late Einsteins and Hitlers today?
Personally, I have too candidates
Julian Assange was Julius Caesar and
Osama bin Laden lived as Zarathustra (or Zoroaster) a long BC.
Because we have no evidence and little knowledge about reincarnation, this is not a GQ. If this becomes a GD, I might add my mystic arguments.
Is the reincarnation that we’re discussing limited to humans? Don’t some groups believe, for example, that Hitler could be that cockroach that I smushed this morning?
as far as I understand Karma and Reincarnation, I’d expect today’s world leaders to have been poor, unimportant people in their last life. Or possibly their next. Karma can balance out over multiple incarnations, but tends to settle up sooner rather then later. I know some groups do think that you’ll be reincarnated as a lower life form in your next life as a type of punishment, but I don’t believe in that view of Karma, and doubt that it would be effective. How would a fairly brainless roach learn by you smashing it? As I understand, souls progress from simpler to more complex organisms, learning all they can as the simpler forms of life, then reincarnating to more advanced forms - until all has been experienced, karma has balanced, and we are at the end of our reincarnation cycle.
By that logic… Hitler reincarnated as a person with a horrible life - who experienced terrible suffering - to try and “work off” or balance the karma/impressions/experiences of his previous life. Maybe he’s a sex slave in Eastern Europe, or an “untouchable” cast or a Leper in India. Or perhaps his previous life was the terrible one… With the amount of suffering he caused, I wouldn’t doubt if it would take many lives to balance out the evil. Some say that you take a person’s life’s unfinished karma if you murder them. If that’s true, Hitler’s soul has a lot of work to do! Some also believe that suicide results in getting “stuck” on the earthly plane as a ghost - where it takes you even more time to work out your karma - due to your limited interactions with the material world. By this logic, Hitler is a pissed off, tortured ghost somewhere, and will be for centuries.
And by the way, we do have plenty of evidence of Reincarnation existing. It just comes down to the mystics to explain the how’s and why’s…
As I keep telling people, I don’t distinctly remember being human before. Maybe, but I was probably someone obscure. I much preferred being a butterfly.
Full Disclosure: I do not believe in reincarnation per se; but I find the topic interesting enough to be within the realm of possibility. Not that we puny humans will ever discover the truth, or who got reincarnated as who, until millions of years after our species evolves beyond humanity.
My opinion is that reincarnated souls appear in lives & situations not too different from each other. This is includes both good AND evil people – it’s a karmic balance, decided on how “successful” each person is at their individual goals, and how true they remain to their nature.
Therefore, world conquerors like Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Hernán Cortés would be the corporate raiders of today. (I suspect Bill Gates may be Tumajin himself, except that G.K. sometimes showed mercy to the [del]companies[/del] people he conquered…no way to prove it either way, though.)
Hitler? I’m pretty sure his soul got recycled – the entire planet had to invade and destroy him, after all. Forget him being reborn as a cockroach…he’s permanently banished to the infernal level below Naraka, and frankly, it probably suits him just dandy.
Same goes for scientists & philosophers. In fact…check this timeline out:
Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543)
Galileo Galilei (1544-1642)
Isaac Newton (1643-1727)
