Which supports the air conditioner more - attic window open (lowers amount of heat trapped in the attic) or attic window closed (holds air in place, which helps from an insulating standpoint so the air conditioner needs to work less).
I tried to Google this and couldn’t find an answer to this specific quesion amongst the links to tips for windows in general. If you have a solid cite, that would be great to see…
Where is your insulation, in the attic ceiling or the attic floor ? If it is in the ceiling you want all the windows closed and the attic sealed as well as possible so it fills with cold, conditioned air that the attic insulation keeps in. If the insulation is in the attic floor then you want as much air movement as possible in the attic so the difference between the insulated side (your house) and the uninsulated space (your attic) is as small as possible.
