If Trump blocks you on Twitter is that a violation of your free speech rights?

There is currently a lawsuit in which seven Twitter users are accusing Donald Trump of violating their free speech rights because Trump blocked them on Twitter (so they cannot see anything Trump tweets). You can read more about it here.

The short version is The White House admits it blocks these users but claims the account is Trump’s private account so he can block whoever he likes.

The users who were blocked claim that Trump’s Twitter account is a form of government speech since he announces policy decisions on it.

So what does the Dope think? Is this government speech? If it is government speech is it a violation of the first amendment to block some people from seeing the Twitter account?

Of course it’s government speech, but since when does the first amendment guarantee that everyone will hear all speech, government or otherwise?

It’s not a limited public forum, in my opinion. No relief for the blocked Twitter users.

Check out this thread from June. Post #49 is good.

It doesn’t stop anyone from seeing his twitter account, blocked or not. It’s still visible to blocked users if they visit his page when not logged in to their own account.

Well played, sir, well played
