If we could cure blindness/deafness, how many would reject it?

Which if accurate is probably an answer to the OP. If many deaf people have chosen to take advantage of a fairly imperfect aid to hearing, then if there was a complete cure you’d have to think the same or more deaf people would take that cure.

Do we know that someone who had sight and then lost it for a long time would not experience the same problems with the brain’s judgment of images? I’d be interested in seeing research on the issue.
