If you are carrying water for Donald Trump, even now - especially now - kindly go fuck yourself

It’s not that person’s fault.

When you have a first past the post, winner take all voting system you will always end up with two parties. It’s just how the math works out. In smaller races you can get occasional break-outs from the two but in the big presidential race it is extraordinarily unlikely.

Best we might hope for is getting a constitutional convention called and getting a new system like instant runoff voting (or something else…there are a few to choose from with different up/down sides). That is also very unlikely to happen.

Because clearly, when we have two sides at an ideological impasse, unable to compromise or agree on anything, what we need is a third side with which to form further ideological impasses with!

Unless you think that by some fucking miracle, a third party is going to be so acceptable to the partisan American populace that it will marginalize both existing parties, in which case you’re still crazy.

Reason to join a third party: If you want to claim to have superior ideas without ever having to prove it.

To be fair, a system that has multiple stable parties will generally run better. If one party decides to be obstructionist, than the other parties just continue to govern without them.

there are many reasons I would be in favor of a multiparty system, but I am under no illusion that such a system would come about just because I voted for gary johnson.

I dream of a constitutional convention.

Amendment 28:

Sec 1: There are no penumbras or emanations.

Sec 2: The words of the Constitution matter, even though they were written years ago by dead white men.

Sec 3: Any judge who begins to push at this line must write, by hand, two thousand times, “I am sorry I tried to substitute my desired outcome for the text of the Constitution. I firmly resolve to never again do this.” Judges refusing the punishment are immediately removed from office.

OK, it’s not a very likely dream.

Those still carrying water for Scalia can go to hell as well.

What is the legal definition of “corruptly” w/r/t “corruptly, or by threats or force”?

It seems like a third way to obstruct justice which does not involve either threats or force. I’m guessing the exchange of money or other considerations, but perhaps it is broader than that…

I hope not, the fat bastard would start a grease fire.

I’ll risk getting “not the answer I want”. What is your take? I know the Prez can declassify material, but that sort of short explanation is too simplistic. As far as deliberately interfering in an ongoing FBI investigation (he DID) that might eventually settle on him, I doubt it’s so simple.

Pretty damn close at least

an Anti Christ? Not even close. To be an Anti Christ you have to know what you are doing, and have a plan. This Donald Dump guy is just a spoiled two year old shit head who never got the beatings he so obviously deserves.

Fake news. Unfair. Fake news. Liberal media.
Uh huh.

Would the constitutional convention add amendments or just rewrite the Constitution?

The Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit found it a nullity, because it’s too vague to be enforceable.

No one knows.

Please don’t take my amendment 28 thing seriously.

I’d say YES. He knew it was some flaky shit.

The important thing to remember is that Trump has committed no illegal acts, or at least there is not a reasonable certainty of conviction for illegal acts.

Therefore, it’s all good, and Trump can proceed as usual. No problems here! Look away!

It was obviously not serious, but I just wondered… Though I don’t think a constitutional convention can ever be convened. Just like you shouldn’t ask questions you don’t know the answers to, you shouldn’t appoint an all-powerful assembly when you have no idea what it will do.

That sounds too much like being a hipster

I’m curious whether you view the constitution as an infallible document, in its current state. (?)
