If you could attend any ONE sporting event in history, what would it be?

1980 WTC Championship when Connors beat McEnroe.

No.
It was the fourth game of a five test series. Australia was 2-0 up so England could have squared the series ergo I think game four is a closer assessment than game seven.

Miracle on Ice, but could you also whack me in the head so I don’t know what is going to happen?

Or possibly Nolan Ryan’s seventh no-hitter.

Since I was at the 1973 Belmont Stakes, Miracle on Ice.

I’d go to the game where the United States wins the World Cup for the first time. Of course, this could be so far in the future that I could also grab a time machine at the concession stand.

I’d have to go with Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS.

Some great responses here, keep 'em coming!

I especially like the Miracle on Ice and Babe Ruth’s called shot; enough to make me re-think my own choice.

Those of you that want to travel into the future, I’ll have to get back to you. Since the future hasn’t happened yet we’d be kind of shooting in the dark and I couldn’t guarantee your safety. At the very least it’ll require a massive re-calibration, and that’s gonna cost you extra.

And Captaine Zombie, good luck on the Hitler-killing thing. That kind of stuff never seems to work out like you think it will.

May 26, 1959. Harvey Haddix throws 12 perfect innings.

(MLB can go to hell. Bunch of assholes.)

1991?

That’s what I was gonna say. Incidentally, future U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens was there as a 12-year-old kid, and said in a recent interview that he was certain that Ruth really did call the shot: John Paul Stevens - Wikipedia

Seeing the '99 Final is probably 3rd on my list, just behind the 1991 World Series, game 7 (Jack Morris pitched a complete game shutout for the Twins). I never think about the Miracle on Ice, but wow, it’s giving me goosebumps now.

Not the WNT, the MNT.

1993 European Grand Prix at Donington Park. Senna’s greatest win.

Hmmm…it’s probably a toss-up between the Miracle on Ice, or the 1991 Stanley Cup finals. The Miracle was awesome, but it’s hard to turn down the chance to see Super Mario in his prime, hoisting up Sir Stanley’s Cup for the first time.

And even though I’m not a baseball fan, I think it would be cool to see Game 7 of the 1960 World Series. Maybe just to watch the end to see Mazeroski rounding the bases.
And oh, it’s sooo tempting to want to see the Immaculate Reception! Dammit, I’m torn. Can I pick one from each sport?

I’d probably pick Super Bowl III, but I’d be really tempted to pick Hershey, PA on March 2, 1962 for the game between the Philadelphia Warriors and New York Knicks. Especially if I can bring a camcorder.

I think that’s the loophole I need.

I’d go back to whenever it was that Bo Jackson dislocated his hip, and do whatever it took to keep him from playing that game.

Miracle on Ice for sure. I don’t follow hockey but live hockey is very exciting to watch.

Another one for ALCS 04 game 7.

And you folks picking the Ice Bowl…you’d really want to sit out in that weather?

That would be high up there, but I might even pick game 4 over game 7.

The other one would be game 6 of the 1967 WS.

The year Jeanne Driscoll became the most decorated Boston Marathon athlete.
