Ditto!
Blackberries and raspberries grow wild around here. I would love an olive grove though. Perhaps in forty or fifty years time.
My father loves those things. I sent him a 2 and 1/2 pound box for Father’s Day via Proflowers.com
Chickpeas and tomatoes for me. We had a garden in SC and it was a lot of fun. The kids each had one row and got to decide what to grow. I saved tomato seeds from fruit bought at the store, and along with my leaf lettuce and my son’s carrots, I didn’t have to buy salad stuff all summer. Also, unless Every Single Rock and Pebble is removed from the ground carrots will grow in interesting twisted and contorted shapes, but they were so much more flavorful, very carroty. We also grew cantalope, and the vines grew through the fence and we had cantalope growing in our front yard. Very juicy and sweet.
I think we need to do that again in the spring, if we can figure out where to put the garden.
If the malevolent forces conspiring against me ever let me close the sale on the house I’m trying to buy, I’d like a little garden in my backyard. I dream about the fresh corn, carrots, cantalope, watermelon, cucumbers…
…and then I remember that I don’t have a green thumb so much as a black thumb of death, and anything I plant will probably wither up and die just for spite. But I’ll try anyway. If I could only grow one thing? Cantalope. Fresh, sweet, juicy cantalope. Yum.
