If you could only hear one artist's or group's music for the rest of your life...

I could listen to Dr. John for a long time.

The Seekers.

Your parties must be a blast.

Likewise!

Well, someone has to pick Bob Dylan.

Tom Waits

My pick, thus far, is unique…Jerry Garcia…including EVERYTHING.

Legions of Mary…his Jug band…JGB…anything and everything! including the *grateful dead. Nobody covers Dylan better that Jerry.

tangled up in BLUE…

Oh, well…if you’re going to relax the grip a bit…

This. Or Simon & Garfunkel, if that inclues Paul’s solo stuff too.

David Bowie. Easy.

Scott Walker. There’s everything from romantic ballads to avant-garde noise in his catalogue.

I heard “Wind of Change” the other day for the first time in years, and it reminded me of how much I loved that song when I was 12. And I still remembered every lyric.

For me it’s Bob Dylan.

Glenn Miller and his Orchestra!

I’d expand that and just say Jack White. Then you’ve got The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, the Dead Weather and, of course, his recent offering under his own name. Add in a touch of Loretta Lynn and other production credits, if you want.

I love the man. I could listen to his stuff (including various live recordings) and never get bored. I think.

Next month I’m going to see him live for the 17th time. I’m still unspeakably excited.

Honourable mentions to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd* who I would have had to have chosen between without the divine Jack.

*Actually, make that Roger Waters. I’d rather face eternity with Radio KAOS than The Division Bell.
