not split up with my girlfriend when i was 19. although doing that indirectly led me to be where i am today.
gone to a different college, as mine turned out to be dogshit in the final year.
waited for a taxi a couple of years ago, instead of walking and getting the shit booted out of me by some cunts in a car with nothing better to do at 3 in the morning.
you should also try not to second guess yourself though. one thing leads to another, and eventually gets you where you want to be. i find it pointless pondering on ‘what if…’ scenarios.
go with your gut feeling kid. if it seems right at the time, i say fuck it + do it.
hows that for cliches?
Spent more time with my dad, and both grandfathers. Three very competent men that I could have learned a lot from.
Finished my degree faster. I could have finished it in 4 years, instead of 6.
Gone out with Michelle & Heather in high school. And kept in touch with them after graduation.
Develop better eating habits early.
I still would have:
Dated the lovely lady that is now my wife.
Had children when we did.
Never tried illegal drugs or smoking.
I would have become an exchange student during my high school years and experienced the world.
Then I would have joined the Army and traveled after high school.
Met the man of my dreams. Settled down after a long engagement.
Got married and never had children.
I would be more spontaenous. I would take more risks. I would learn to trust more. I woulnd’t be so hard on myself. I would wear sunscreen.
And I would live happily ever after.
I would have stood up for myself more! (stayed with a crappy, abusive boyfriend FAR too long)
I would have taken more risks! (In college and life, generally)
I would not have started smoking! (Started this socially in HS, led to addiction)
I am only 29… so I guess it’s not too late to start doing all these things
I would have asked her out.
Age 14 (end of eighth grade, registering for ninth grade): I would have registered for Art History (fall semester) and Creative Writing (spring semester) in ninth grade, instead of Homemaking (fall semester) and Health (spring semester). I would have taken Health in summer school, since it was such an easy class.
Age 18 (beginning of freshman year of college): I would have registered for an English major, with a triple minor in French, Latin, and German, instead of a pre-med Biology major.
I did get to take art history and creative writing in tenth grade, and I enjoyed them. I only wish that I had taken the two classes a year earlier.
I eventually became an English major anyway. I regret that I wasted my time on extra science and math courses that were required for a B. S. in Biology degree but not for a B. A. in English degree.
