Let’s say you’re an unmarried, childless, debt free person with a desire to live in the deep, deep woods by yourself. You dispose of any real estate or personal property that would acculate debt prior to taking off.
You go off into the woods and live a hermit’s life for say, 10-20 years. You pop back in a decade or two later and want to get a job and become part of society again. At this point, assuming you still have a marketable skill, is there legally anything to stop you from simply picking up where you left off? Will the IRS be on your case? Will you be declared dead?
What happens to people that simply “drop out” for extended periods of time?
