If You Had A Million Dollars To Spend On A Collection, What Would You Collect?

I would add to my collection of designer toys. Especially the work ofKAWS.

Guns.

Military weapons from WW1 to the Vietnam era. Especially the big stuff, like belt fed crew served weapons. MG42, M2, Vickers, etc.

Gemstones and jewelry!

This Burmese sapphire would take the whole money supply at once, but I’d be content with one quite a bit smaller so that I could get everything else on my list of desires: a red-blue color changing garnet, a (probably pretty small) blue diamond, a cobalt blue spinel, a nice tsavorite garnet, an alexandrite with excellent color change, a deep blue indicolite, contra luz opal, a pigeon’s blood ruby… And I’d be able to get stuff cut by e.g. John Dyer or the Munsteiners.

Um, not that I spend way too much time thinking about this, or anything!

I’d love to expand my collection of kitchen gadgets and such, but I really doubt I could spend a million that way. Maybe if I gold-plated my kitchenaid…

My second choice would definitely be vintage cars and motorcycles. I’ve always wanted a motorcycle with a sidecar, but the modern ones are so lame.

Now THAT is a BAT.

For me, Stickley, baby.

I would spend the money on things that I currently collect:

  1. Comic books
  2. “Superheroines-in-Peril” commissioned artwork
  3. “Cthulhu Mythos” and H. P. Lovecraft related books and memorabilia
  4. Medieval Weapons

A million dollars could definitely enhance my ability to collect such items!

Me too. My wife found me a lovely little old map of Tartary and Siberia for Christmas and I’d love to have a real collection.

Since a million doesn’t go very far with airplanes I would collect cars and musicians.

I’m with this.

The last thing I want in my life is more stuff. But there are a lot of places I’d like to travel to. If I can spend the million bucks collecting pictures of me and my family in interesting places, that’s how I’d spend it.

Coins are pretty, but I think I’d go for edged weapons. Yep, they’re the collectible for me. Perhaps a cabinet or curiosities thing would be better: collect “paranormal” artifacts, there’s still some of those pancakes from the 1897 UFO flap in existence, you know.

I’d go with comic books or stand-up video arcade games.

Skateboards (displayed showing the art work), or continue with bonsai trees.

Easy…antique guns. I have five now, but a million bucks would buy a lot more…

I would collect two things.

Experiences gained travelling around the world.

Memories of helping a few people who needed and deserved a little financial help.

Movies.

Books about the making of movies.

Ways to watch movies in nerdy comfort.

In the footstept of Towers : probably historical armors and weapons. That said, in that gig a million bucks wouldn’t go very far when, for example, this beauty alone is worth 23K

Scary clown art.

So I create a museum of it.
Yeah, I’m a bit twisted.

Horse statues. I already do, but I would up the ante- good bronzes, expensive resins, porcelains to drool over. Of course, I would have to spend part of that million buying a bigger house with a wing to HOUSE the statues.

sigh what a lovely dream.
