It sounds like a spell-check error. You know, the kind where you type “cell phone” and the spell-checker thinks you wanted to spell “cellophane.”
It just gave the same answer as Scarlett67’s friends got. Very odd…
Think of a pound of butter or a handheld 20Q game.
Mine got hummingbird, no problem. Then I tried human head, and it guessed cadaver and mummy, so that’s close enough for government work, I suppose.
I still can’t get it to guess bra. A bra’s a mineral, right?
It couldn’t get cigarette when I classified it as a vegetable, but it did when I classified it a mineral.
I can’t get it to guess bra either. It said lint and handkerchief the first time around, then running shoe and slippers the next time. Hmmm.
OK- we’re trying it now! I got “human head” and so did my husband- two more people to go…
This game is usually right 80-90% of the time for us, so this is wacky!
I wonder if it’s a search error as humming bird and human head each start with hum-
are there other words that begin hum- that could test this possibility?
All I can think of now is a “flying, beaked human head of the forest.”
Umm, hello, it’s also in a jungle. It’s a shrunken head.
I see you’re not a big Seals & Crofts fan.
On that question, I picture one of those huge FedEx envelopes, but still, I don’t think an adult human head would fit. It’s a clever program, but it makes some dumb mistakes.
Mine got hummingbird on thr first round. DD is working on it now.
Here’s the 20q website where you can play the electronic game.
I found one at work in the lost and found. Me and another guy here played it with humming bird in mind. Both times it guessed “human head” on the first guess.
Weird. After a few more questions, it just guessed butterfly.
Strange, indeed.
I don’t know how they program these things. . .but I wonder if it’s possible that they’re updating a “pointer” at the bottom of some search tree, and there’s a “off by one” error.
That is, it’s pointing at thing 967 in its list when it meant to point to 968.
Are there anythings you can guess between “human head” and “hummingbird”. Like, “humanist”, “humdinger” or “humjob”.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was so surprised by my result that I had to post it. Human head here too! I definitely thought it was not going to go for the head, given that I said it had a beak, two legs, and weighed less than one pound.
I actually came logged on in order to resurrect this thread, so thanks!
I tried hummingbird with the hand-held we just got and also got “human head” but-we aslo have an older hand-held version of the game- I was cleaning my daughter’s room and found it, so I immedialtely stopped and tried hummingbird–
and it guessed–
HUMMINGBIRD!!! I wonder of the newer game has a programming flaw!
Mine has been stumped on “cactus” and “soup.” I can’t believe I’m that far off on answering its questions, but I’ve tried these words three times each, and it just can’t get it.
For cactus, it says banana pepper and then coconut. For soup, it guesses orange juice and then salad.
Hmmmm.
