Was there a thread on the deaths in Bali from methanol poisoning? Six (or maybe 7) at last count, mainly young, foreign tourists staying at a hostel.

Weirdly, I started a thread about the fishermen in Sri Lanka that drank a random bottle of something they found floating in the ocean and died, but now I can’t find it with a search, either searching for words that would be in the post or by looking for all my posts in early July 2024, when the story broke.
Perhaps. Have you every watched how Aussies on vacation at a tropical resort drink? It’s a sight to behold.
Mostly kidding about that, but only mostly. This does seem to be an adulterant. Hope they can figure out what it was and how it got there.

But no answer yet. I’m still expecting it to be bad coconut milk (here’s the most obscure piece of trivia you’ll read today: Bob Hope originally started as half of a vaudeville duo, but his partner died after eating tainted coconut cream pie, launching Hope’s solo career)
So they haven’t ruled out the lime-hypothesis?
Or maybe the tourists wanted to be like Wild West toughs: “bring me a piña colada… in a dirty glass!”
And leave the bottle!
