Had a weird idea of Things in a hotel room which I don’t even think was an intentional red herring, just my weird brain. Angry I didn’t see Purple immediately because it was obvious once I saw it.

Blue was a bear on that one.
Thursday was brutal for me, and I only just barely got it, and that only due to a three-word red herring that happened to match (with a bit of blundering on the fourth) to blue (I was thinking that coffee makers, cigarettes, and air fresheners all have a strong smell.

Still overthinking it with two categories that were too similar.
Yay! Purple was leftovers.

Kinda kicking myself on purple there, but there was one entry I hadn’t heard of and guessed wrong (which in retrospect I saw I should have deduced the correct answer.)

I call bullshit on Blue - Rugby shirts are not commonly stripey, they’re solid colours way more often than not. They should stick to Americanisms.
Nice red herring, though…

I had to look up the
IBM logo
and I still messed up. I even knew the last two answers after the first two. I’m just being careless.
I did google one of them to be sure and even the I wasn’t 100% confident. One of those where I had to know all four before I was sure of three.
There is a strong Americanism bias in one clue. Or an extreme Originalism!

That may itself be an Americanism. Here they are strongly associated with stripes. So much so that when I image search “rugby shirt,” it’s about ten-to-one striped vs non-striped. Like if you look at classic preppy wear catalogs like LL Bean or J Crew, the rugby shirts are largely striped, though you might be able to find some plain ones.
