If You Like "Wordle", Try "Connections"

I knew that was what it stood for because it came up a lot when the Pokemon TV show caused seizures back in the 90s. This was before the show or card game had come to America so people didn’t really know what it was.

And that’s the one I got in the first 15 seconds!

Whelp, today’s was unexpected. I made three mistakes and didn’t figure out the purple when it was the last one but it was still a fun one.

Yep, lots of fun! I did make a couple of mistakes because I thought the mouth was indicating teeth, which of course was intentional on their part. But after I moved off of that, the rest came together fairly quickly. Though I did lose time a little thinking that the geez was font. Nice way to mix it up, Connections!

I didn’t get a single category. :frowning: I had three of four for the one with the musical note, and I kept trying, but didn’t realize what the note was going for.

I got it with a guess to spare but it was obnoxious

I did not enjoy this one, but I got it. I only used one mistake - I got antsy and guessed at the fourth “T” word instead of thinking. It took forever for me to figure out that the picture of the ice cream sundae was “fudge” and not chocolate syrup - I don’t like hot fudge on my ice cream. I never could parse what the triangle was supposed to be, so that was my gimme category.

TIL that Starry is a soft drink. Never heard of it before.

Same here.

It’s a rebranding of Sierra Mist. Pretty much the same thing with a new name, in my understanding.

Didn’t like that crap either. Squirt and 7Up are the two best citrus sodas.

I find Connections slightly tough. Even when I know the pattern, and I usually do, sometimes there are five things that fit it (objects with teeth, yesterday) or I know three things plus a fringe thing that Americans might know about but Canadians don’t. I’ve never heard of a drink called “Starry,”, for example (today).

I enjoy the puzzle, and don’t care if I miss some. It’s a puzzle. But it could be more “tightly written” sometimes. If you correctly guess the category all the answers should be obvious.

I knew, that’s what tipped me off which was the “fifth” fantasy creature.

I’ve said there’s usually a red herring group, but there’s often a phantom category. Today was bad internet behavior.

Got the purple (and yellow) one almost immediately but failed with only two of the ones that are supposed to be easier left.

Yellow, blue, green, purple, no mistakes, in that order for me.

Same order for me, although I had one (stupid) mistake on green.

Not sure I would have ever gotten purple, however. Rather obvious when the clue is revealed, but I was nowhere close.

Yellow, Blue, Purple, Green, no errors.

Once I cleared out the yellow and blue items, purple was obvious. And once purple was done (but not before), the category for green was evident.

Same, but I used a strike because I’ve never heard of a boat neckline, and there is such a thing as a U neckline. I overlooked the yellow at first because I didn’t believe it would be that simple.

Me too. I was able to get it correct the second time because it seemed like the only thing left that was plausible.

I just discovered Connections pretty recently. I would occasionally miss a puzzle. There is website where you can do old puzzles, and choose easy or hard ones. I worked through some of those. Now I have the hang of them and quickly solved the last ten or so. The author sure likes her rappers.
