If you need to make fun of my spelling just do it in the tread.

By “sign” I obviously meant leaving the SDMB username of the person sending the email.

Since the subject matter of the email was a thread here at the boards, a real life name is as good as A. Nonymous.

Although I agree with you on the absurdity of someone actually taking the time to E-mail you about spelling errors(specially since any reasonable person could dechiper what you meant),I don’t understand what you are saying here, on second thought, i think I do understand it, you think he is invading your privacy.I hope you don’t think that.

A verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. But I will conceed this point to make a larger one: The nit-pick was silly-- as are most pendantic nit-picks.

As I mentioned before, flyboy’s meaning was perfectly clear. It was my pendantry that steered the discussion away from what he actually communicated and turned straight into Grammarian Wars.

That’s not to say that people shouldn’t try to use proper spelling and grammar. Too many grammar and spelling mistakes makes a post difficult to understand. When this happens I’ll be one of the first to say “What the hell is that supposed to be?” Or sometimes it seems obvious that the poster didn’t make a mistake, but is actually ignorant of the rules of grammar[sup][/sup] which makes the post difficult to read. Sometimes the mistake just can’t be ignored-- like Zebra’s spelling mistake in the title of the thread. Everybody knew he meant “thread” . Most everyone would agree that Zebra knows how to spell “thread”-- but it’s kinda hard to lay off that one.

[/sup]Since they ain’t no rules in spelling, spell check is a must. Those of you who thought I could spell “grammarian” off the top of my head are giving me more credit than I deserve.

Walloon yes the email did containg the guys name. In my hotmail account if a person mails me something it (hotmail) reads the information from the incoming mail. So befor I click on the mail it says it is from P*** P******. The return address is pp******@_____.net.

But if I say click on your email tab on your post what pops up there does not match it. So it couldn’t be you, now could it. I checked that address against everyone who had participated in the thread who allows members to email. No matches. Now maybe someone who won’t let others email him did it or somewho didn’t post to the thread or it may be someone who shares a computer with P*** and not him at all. So although I’m pretty sure that P*** P****** sent this to me I’m not absoulty sure.

GreatKingRat it not really an invasion of my privacy. Although I’m, for some strange reason, am not divulging this guys name or email. When I get an email from someone I don’t know the vast majority of the time it comes from the SDMB. Usually someone wants to compliment a joke I made, sometimes someone wants to flirt, (not nearly often enough though), or someone wants to talk about an upcoming dopefest. So I don’t really expect this negetive stuff in my mailbox from strangers. I find it quite rude. Now I will confess that the fact is I have a great deal of stress in my life right now and that this was a straw that snapped the camel’s back. However with all the other shit I get in my life right now the absoultly last thing I needed was a email from a total stranger correcting my spelling.
