I steered clear of Genesis just because of that confusion (I’m no scholar),** Humble Servant**, but I’m glad you brought it up. I suppose one take on it could be that without such knowledge evil could not have existed (although “good” apparently could) in the world. Since simple obedience can be expected of mere animals, the original act of disobedience might not be considered sinful, just the transgression, analogous to jumping the stile, that spoiled everything. At this point, it gets too deep and complicated for me.
