I have several IKEA pieces, and have found their lighting and book shelves etc to be great.
A word of caution on the “no box spring mattress.” My ex-GF had one of these things, and I NEVER slept well on it. It might as well have been a burlap sack stuffed with straw. I can’t comment on the sofas, but please consider getting a real mattress.
Other than that, IKEA has been good to me.
I have two of those. White. They’re absolutely great. Very sturdy and inside, there are nifty holes for wires, cables and stuff. You can hide all the cables, which I love. I have my 140lb 32" TV on one and that’s no problem.
They were discontinued because that black paint produced some allergy inducing vapors or whatever. The consumer agnecy of the EU demanded this and they complied. The black bookshelves were selling poorly, with consumer preferences moving towards other colors, so out they went.
I used to have black Billy, but when I couldn’t upgrade, I decided to change bookshelves altogether. Right now, I need about 120’ of shelf-space, so changing is costly. This is what I got (top picture).
