Ilhan Omar - A thread about her marriage and immigration history.

Sounds like you’re lying about me. Unless you have a cite. Got one handy, or is this just dishonest bullshit you’re pulling out of your ass?

Dude, WTF? You think “Don’t demonize a victim and let an investigation take place” is the same as “We need to believe a woman when she says her husband and some other person are having an affair”?

Really?

Is that really how you choose to take Andy’s characterizations of the alleged victim needing to be believed … Absence evidence no less?

Believing someone is believing someone, unless proven otherwise. I for one don’t go around saying that I never make a judgement based upon little evidence but I sure try hard not to.

That is a far cry from “We need to believe her!”

And yes Andy, If I need to slog through the me too thread, I can find plenty of quotes but you stating such.

Let’s see a cite then. Or maybe you’re just a liar. We’ll see. By my memory I’ve never said that we should believe all alleged victims.

Bring on the cite. If not, then you’re just yet another bullshitting liar.

Wait, now Omar is accused of sexually assaulting someone?

This entire thread is such a whirlwind…

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

Yes. Apparently not marrying your brother is exactly the same thing as being the victim of sexual assault.

Kearsen1 could you show your work on this? I don’t follow your logic at all.

People do dumb and pointless things, yes. But not the kind of “dumb and pointless” that involves finding a six year old tweet (I was on Twitter six years ago but I’m not even sure how to find those old tweets) that is completely innocent and deleting it for no reason whatsoever. :dubious:

And therefore, we know for sure that only an unrepentant brother-fucker of the Zensunni would dare to delete a tweet calling her father by his Other Name.

The Forms have been obeyed.

Yeah I do. Let me guess, you also think that many lives have been destroyed by false rape allegations too, right?

Oh sorry, let me rephrase:

You think that many lives have been destroyed by false rape allegations.

Now that I’ve said it, you have to believe me. Since that is what those in the #metoo movement mean - believe everyone who says anything about anything.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Again, if anyone is accusing her of having sex with her brother, I missed it. It certainly was not I. It’s clear she’s hiding something about her family and marriages, though. And again, if I liked her and wanted her to succeed, I would help you guys try to sweep it under the rug because I don’t actually care about it on the merits.

What a Republican set of ethics you have there!

CMC fnord!

We do care about it on its merits. The problem is that it doesn’t have any.

How dare you.

He’s not wrong.

He said quite a few foolish things on other subjects too, and a lot of his “deeper” writings were largely a veneer of rhetorical polish over a substructure of fact and analysis created by some other author whose contribution Hitchens didn’t fully acknowledge. Yes, as I noted, he was a very intelligent and eloquent writer, but his rationality was a very hit-or-miss affair. When he had a good insight (or a reliable source), he could make a brilliant and often profound argument for it; but when he had a bad idea or the wrong end of a stick, he defended his position just as stubbornly, refusing to recognize its illogic.

Basically, Hitchens was a debater rather than a thinker: he liked a controversy that would attract attention to him, and in which he could make epigrammatic and emotionally appealing arguments without being too limited by considerations like strict truth or rational consistency. He famously remarked that “the one unforgivable sin is to be boring”, and his writing shows that he could forgive himself a lot of lying, fudging and borrowing as long as he avoided boringness.

Good grief. Is that really what you think folks are doing here?
Is that really what you would do?

Shame on you, sir.

Yeah, every time Slacker posts lately, I become more aware of how morally vacuous he really is.

If the shoe fits…
No one’s been trying to sweep anything under the rug - they’ve simply been demanding some sort of proof or evidence. All we’ve seen is tortured assumptions (at best), about a few deleted tweets and Instagram pics.

If you have any solid evidence against Ilhan Omar (other than being Muslim ), feel free to share it at some point, or quit bitching about how no one believes she’s so evil.

Chisquirrel, you’re losing the plot. I don’t think the stuff that she is accused of around her marriages is “evil”. The stuff I dislike her for is a matter of public record. This is just a convenient way to get her.

Yes, and yes.

Nah, it’s all about the greater good.
