There is only one other general board that I post to, and it is run by a Doper as well.
I also post to a mountain bike board- but that is a speciality thing.
The SDMB is my other woman.
There is another messageboard I’ve been posting to since 1996 – very simple layout, no images in sight, you don’t need to register, you can use whatever screenname you’d like, it’s not moderated – sounds like an anarchist’s dream, right? I used to think so, but the spark went out of our relationship a couple of years ago, and I’ve just been kidding myself that we can salvage the beautiful thing we had going for so long. The focus of the place has shifted away from the humanities and toward politics, and nearly all of the old regular posters have left, and it…it’s lonely there. Yesterday, I decided that it’s time for a divorce.
Somebody hold me.
I tried to post to the clubmom.com message boards, but there’s too many boards and not enough posters not to mention that you have to bring up a new page for every reply to the OP. It was very slow and very annoying.
Now, now, let’s not be too hard on Hillbilly Queen
Last thing I remeber, she was gonna be holed up for a week with no one but the dog. And one chile. AND NO CAR !!!
Heck, even I might be tempted under those circumstances.
When I registered, this was the only message board I’d ever seen; I figured they were all pretty much like this. A few weeks ago I was logging into my e-mail account (with a regional ISP) and noticed a link to their “message boards.” Hmm, says I, wonder what that’s like?
EEK! The most coherent post I found was “anyone else like matthew lillard??? he is soooooooooooooo hot!!!” or something like that.
Now, for all I know there may be some other board with intelligent posters, standards of behavior and orthography, and a well-organized setup, but the thought of all the junk one would have to wade through to find it makes me feel old.

Oh! BTW, while I was on my quest, I found a message board called “The Vulva Village”
I bet they didn’t have animated Angels, Kitties, Puppies and Bears… Or atleast not Angels, Puppies, and Bears.
