"Illegals" and "invaders" should be moderated as hate speech in the context of immigration debates

I was typing the reply before that. You know, after you posted, and before you changed it.

BTW, the point stands, what have you learned?

People can say whatever they want. Adults can use what they say to decide what to think.

Fighting ignorance is not achieved by trying to control what people say or think. We have far too much language policing here already.

That I’ve given your posts the benefit of the doubt for entirely too long.

There were some additional factors that went into the decision also.
I thought it happened a day or two ago. I cleaned it up today finally.

I believe tomorrow some word on the OP will be given, not by me.

This thread is getting too heated, I’m closing it until @engineer_comp_geek can decide if it should continue and if any modding needs to be done.

But @The_Other_Waldo_Pepper, I’m flagging your last post for attention. Calm down and maybe step away from the keyboard.

The modloop Discussion was bumped.

After review, this will remain closed.

We don’t have a list of proscribed terms and don’t plan to start one now. Hate speech means an unambiguous slur; these terms are well known and do not need spelling out. Other terms may be racist, uncivil or otherwise objectionable depending on context; we judge such usages on a case by case basis. If you see a post with terminology you believe violates our rules, please flag it and we will take such action as we deem appropriate. We urge all participants in threads on immigration or any other topic to conduct themselves in a civil manner and refrain from attacks, accusations, and other incendiary remarks. Even in these polarized times, please consider the possibility that you may not be entirely right and those you disagree with may not be entirely wrong.
