So did I. C’mon, it was a no-brainer! Blago: no brain. Topinka: not much of a brain. And I love Judy! She’s fun and snarky, but not governor material.

I’m still hoping Blago selects Tammy Duckworth to replace Obama. We tried to send her to DC in 2006, but the district is too Republican. Statewide? Not so much, so she will have no trouble getting re-elected. Blago has her on the bench heading the Illinois Dept of Veteran Affairs.

Which leads back to my question: how are delegates to the convention chosen? Why do you, for instance, believe that a convention will provide you better results than your elected representatives have not for 40 years?

Haven’t a few Canadian provinces tried (& failed) using sortition?

I am a teacher as well, and our union is using this line of thought to get us to vote no. However, our pension is a valid contract and is therefore protected by the federal constitution. No future Illinois constitution can legally break this contract.

I fervently hope that this is true.

Might I recommend that school funding be statewide & any local district that objects can STUFF IT?
