Illinois Governer on the Daily Show; Didn't Know it was Comedy

This is kind of silly. Do you really think a state governor would respond to EVERY media request by going, “Get me everything you can on this outfit. I’m not speaking to anybody until I ge a full file on them.”

He’s the governor. Probably 90% of his job is talking to the media. Exhaustive research on every reporter who asks for an interview would make him look like . . . Cheney or something. It would give a vaguely Soviet air to his office. Accessibility is probably more important to his image than getting to pick and choose who he will or won’t speak to.

Eh, I suppose you’re right. Still, you’d think someone would have known it was a fucking comedy show.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past four years.

You know I never have seen him and Osama Bin Laden in the same room.

Jim

I find it hard to believe any politician at the level of governor wouldn’t have the staff to brief him on his media appearances. Of course they need to check shows before they agree to appear on them - political shows have become intensively partisan and walking into the wrong show without foreknowledge would be setting yourself up for a perfect ambush.

I think he might be being a wee disingeuous now, but he handled the interview very well. I actually like him more, now.

Aside: we call Oberweiss Overpriced in this house.
And I haven’t and won’t vote for a GOP here since Aldo DeAngelis died. I thank god almost daily that I live in a blue state. Just sayin’.
