My first batch of chicks hatched out for the spring=)

We only let our broody hen set 4 batches of eggs a year, and this batch has 9 of the cutest little chicks=) Haven’t sexed them yet, I just got home and noticed them but if it holds with any previous batch there will be at least 2 males…, and it looks like 3 duds…one accidently got smushed lsat week, poor little belute wannabe…one died half stuck in the shell [it happens] and one egg that didnt hatch out yet. Not bad=)

lol, been raising chickens too long to make that mistake=)

anything over 8 is good enough=)

Unfortunately our roommate wants to name them…she will be upset if ‘little fluffy’ is dinner probably…The only ones that don’t get eaten are Cogburn, the daddy and Rietta the one who is the best brooder we have had in a number of years=)
