Well, from where I stand, if Pat Robertson really had the power to cause (and by extension, not cause) massive earthquakes, then maybe we should be sending our money and prayers to him.
With a nicely worded note to the effect of “Here’s our money; please leave us alone. Oh, and I’m getting married in June, so could you arrange some nice weather for us? There’ll be an extra c-note in it for you if so.”
Natural disasters is just the World pissing on your head; it’s neither evil, or indifferent, it just Is, and just about everyone can relate to that on some level, feel sympathy, and be moved to help out/donate.
