I took an Administration of Justice class taught by an ex-LAPD officer. His advice was “never, ever talk to cop about anything”. In his opening lecture, he said “rule number one, SHUT THE FUCK UP”. ( he had been investigated by internal affairs a dozen times.) Even while on the force (he retired) he never talked to anyone who was investigating him. He reffered them to his attorney.
