Sorry that I was gone for so long, but I was really busy. I had to go to outdoor school for a week. now, my dad is using MY computer all the time because his won’t go on the internet anymore.
By ‘outdoor school’, you really mean stealth mod school, don’t you?
My son says that y’all are picking on him.
Thank you.
Where did you go to outdoor school? I remember going to the one in Yamhill when I was in the sixth grade.
Oh, and welcome back. I’m sure you have nothing to do with your father’s difficulties with the computer.
What the heck is “outdoor school,” anyhow?
F_X
No, I am not a moderater, you are thinking of my dad.
I forgot which one I went to.
It is kind of like school, except, you learn about plants and animals and stuff like that.
Young Tiger went to outdoor school a few years ago.
The highlight of his trip was barfing from the top bunk onto his counselor on the bottom bunk.
Oh, welcome back. And tell your dad there are lots of GREAT computer deals out there right now, everyone needs to have at least one working computer of their own plus one backup! We’re a four-person, seven-computer family!
Hmm… not sure I understand too much more about “outdoor school” now. Maybe you’d better get your dad in here to explain things in a clearer way. You don’t by chance mean an extended field trip for Science class, to learn about the discipline of botany… do you?
Mama Tiger: Seven computers for four people? Man, that’s amazing! (at least, to me anywaze)

Outdoor school is like going to school in a camp setting, where the emphasis is on natural history, biology, ecology and the like. In the off hours they have craft classes, swimming, hiking, etc. It lasts approximately a week, depending on the school district and the budget available, and because it provides a wonderful and very effective learning environment, it is usually the first program cut when times are tough.
So you just got back and you’ve already forgotten which one you were at…
That is quite possibly the coolest school function I have ever heard of. So, Kid C, give us some details? What did we learn? And where do I have to move to in order to send my future kids? I am thirsting for the Straight Dope on Outdoor school. Can I get a 1st person perspective?
Oh, and welcome back!
The Kid is asleep right now, but I can give you a few facts on the matter. School funding is an extremely low priority right now in Oregon. Schools are being shut down left and right, and the teachers contracted pension plan is being drastically reduced and altered(breaking the contract imho) because a one time quirk in pension investments caused a handful of pensioners to profit greatly, so the radio pundits told everyone here that ALL the teachers were going to get more from their pensions then they would from their jobs. Our congress decided to “fix” the pension plan so that future teachers would get the pittance that some public education haters felt they deserve, and teachers are retiring in droves to keep the pensions they have. Total disrespect, bad pay and stealing their pension? Just not worth it anymore, even for dedicated teachers. They’ve already cut the band, the choir, most(if not all) arts programs, and the kids are sent out on so many fund raising programs it’s a joke.
So, basically, they learn how to burn things?
[sub]Hey, that’s how I spent my boy scout summer camps…[/sub]
I thought that they’d already cancelled the outdoor school. I’m glad to see they didn’t.
Czarcasm is right though. Our school budgets here continue to decline and many good teachers are either being cut, or leaving to somewhere they can actually afford to live. Our enrollments continue to increase, student:Teacher ratio continues to increase, Lars Larson >>:wally continues to blow hot air, and money dries up. We may not even have sports in many schools next year.
I’m sorry. We now return you to the orginal thread.

Yep, socialism is bad, folks. Tell your state representative.
If by ‘picking on him’ you mean calling him names like 'cutie puhtootie", then yeah, I’m guilty of that.
Kid Czarcasm, you’re back and you’re here, too.
Kid Czarcasm, do you get royalties on the sale of those Kid Czarcasm action figures and dime novels?
And where can I buy one of those action figures?
