i guess for me that thing is how to dress steampunk for a wedding - cause i don’t think i should show up too explorer looking with guns all over . . .lol.
Just an update, since you all were so helpful with suggestions!
I found this awesome website called holyclothing.com - it had several shirts that had a very victorian look (and some renaissance) without breaking the bank.
I also found a pop-up top hat and parisian style floor length skirt on hipsandcurves.com. They had some great corsets and other things as well, but were a bit more pricey.
I went to my local costume shop and was able to buy a pair of rhinestone fingerless gloves and rent a drawstring purse and a cravat/ascot for my bf.
Speaking of the bf - I bought a vest on ebay and a aussie walking hat (we couldn’t find a bowler/top hat that fit that wasn’t outrageously priced.
Oh, and I found 2 pairs of goggles on clearance at the local restoration hardware store.
Add to that some netting, ribbon, flowers, and brass pieces from Michael’s and the Walmart craft department - and I would say it’s coming along pretty well.
I’m going to try to get my shirt altered so I can wear it out - I chose not to wear the under-bust corset I have because it made me bulge in the wrong places . . . time to start doing crunches!
Since I suppose the unstated obvious answer was to not attend, I guess if we’re supposing you do, the best option would be to wear a Wonder Woman costume. Absurdity deserves more absurdity.
Ummmm, would this be the time to ask what on earth is steampunk?

That’s nice. In any case, there actually is a Steampunk Wonder Woman…I can’t find any decent scans of the comic, but the costume looked something like this.
