I'm buying a dolly

Okay. I’ve been putting it off for over a decade.

I’m buying a dolly.

I like the skateboard dolly I built. I’d match it against any professionally-built skateboard dolly any day. But you must have track to use it. ABS track is okay for in-studio work, but it’s not very good on location. Matthews track runs about half-a-kilobuck for an eight-foot section, so it may be some time before I get any. The doorway dolly can be loaded up with gear and used to transport all of that heavy stuff to the location without track. With skateboard or grooved wheels I can still use ABS track, but I do need to get some proper steel track one of these days. Still, the pneumatic wheels will be very useful.

Pard Jerry doesn’t know. I think I’ll have it shipped to the studio. He owes me a couple of kilobucks for past projects, and I’m letting him owe it to me so that he can put it toward a Steadicam or Glidecam.

For a moment I thought you this was a post about how you were going to buy one of these to complement your MGB

I thought you were going to buy one of these.

Took me a moment until I realised it was a Dolomite! As it is, I have a Herald 1200 Convertible to compliment the MGB.

Back to the dolly… Maybe I should buy one piece of track and see if my friend has a friend who can copy it a few times.

*That * cheap vinyl tramp? No way! Johnny is all about quality!
