I'm concerned about my cat (possible TMI)

Lately I’ve noticed that Edison’s anus is looking a little unusual. (I know, geez, normally he puts it all up in my face, and now that I want to look at it he looks at me like I’m a pervert for trying to get a glimpse.) It seems, I don’t know, pinker than normal, maybe swollen a bit? Less, you know, wrinkled. I can’t believe I just typed that out in front of God and everybody. His eyes also look a tiny bit watery, and would you think I was crazy if I told you that I think his orange cat freckling has disappeared from eyelids and anus?

He has lysine powder for kitty herpes, and I gave him some this morning, although he hasn’t had that goopy eye thing for ages. Should I take him to the vet, or did he just eat something that disagreed with him or something? Haven’t noticed any inappropriate pooping, but I can’t tell in the litterbox what belongs to him and what belongs to the other two, and I have one other cat notorious for odd poo, so I’d hesitate to say certainly that he isn’t having poo issues.

what’s “orange cat freckling”?

While there’s some debate on giving herpes kitties lysine as a long term treatment (I have 2 herpes kitties, lysine free), that’s something you should discuss with your vet.

As far as the swollen anus…might be something as simple as needing his anal glands expressed. Also something your vet can do quite simply. Of course, if you’re ever concerned about your vet to the point you’re asking advice from others, you should probably bring it into the vet just to be safe

Well, he has been dead since 1931.
