Actually, this morning on the news it was reported that Trump is making noises about forming a third party called “The Patriot Party”.

Right. The party of US Capitol attacking patriots. It’s nonsensical and contradictory, perfect for Trump and his marks! (Also, bonus points for not calling it the Patriotic party.)

If any Republican politician who rode the tiger of lies, white nationalism, Christian identity, rabble-rousing, and propaganda ends up in the belly of the beast, I will consider that poetic justice.
That would be brilliant. It would fragment the Republican voters and we would have Democratic presidents forever.
Well, until the perpetually disorganized and persistently self-destructive Dems fuck up the opportunity, as they always seem to do.
They didn’t seem to fuck up this one.
Patriot works better because we can just call it the “Riot Party” for short.
The “Trump Rally Party” would work. He mainly wants to keep doing rallies, I think, and the name works as meaning a Trump comeback. Maybe he can get more brazen profiting off them.

It’s too bad the Republicans (and Josh Hwaley in particular) are busily blocking the appointment of a DHS director. Could weaken the agency’s ability to provide adequate protection.
That said, despite the chanting during the Capitol attack I don’t think Pence will continue to be a prime target for the radical Trumpists, and any lone extremists still mad now are likely to have cooled off once the six month period of SS protection is over.
A lot of Republican legislators said that they were afraid to vote against Trump for fear that they or their families would be harmed. There is a lot to gain from having that kind of power of fear over someone. Actually carry out some of those threats an drew you might arguably increase the strength of your power to intimidate.
I’m for “Lost Cause” party. I believe “Know Nothing” is already taken.

Wasn’t he the guy that couldn’t spell “potato”? Or was he the guy who accidently shot somebody while hunting? All Veeps seem to run together pretty easily.
If everyone would just go to Urban Dictionary and give it a “thumbs up” who knows what may happen.
It surprises me a little that Trump didn’t pardon the Capitol riot thugs for that reason - for the simple reason that if you’re gonna go dictator, you can’t half-step; you gotta knuckle up. In the end he didn’t have it in him, I guess, which is good for us.
Trump’s biggest mistake was his stupidity in handling the pandemic. His defeat wasn’t inevitable. Had he just at least looked like he was trying to take it seriously, had he urged people to wear masks and asked people to social distance - maybe just that and nothing else - he could have engaged in gladiator politics with the Democrats and the media. He probably would have pulled enough independents over to edge out victories in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona, and perhaps in Michigan as well.
We lucked out in that sense…I guess.
One of my cousins has gone full QAnon/Trumper. Based on the things she’s been posting on Facebook - and the comments from her fellow lunatics - Pence is not very popular at the moment. The word “Judas” appears a lot.
I doubt any of that particular crew will physically threaten him - they’re more about irrational wharrgarbl than action - but nonetheless there are a lot of people quite mad at Mikey. And it’s likely to put a damper on any future political ambitions he may have.
My Brit mates would refer to the diminutive Mother as “The Poison Dwarf”. He’ll never be out of the sight of her corrosive glance.
