Pence’s office confirms Air Force Two never actually left Washington. He was scheduled to attend an event on opioids in New Hampshire today. Officials aren’t saying why it was canceled, but said it’s not cause for concern.
They ran out of opioids?
Ergo, it must be extremely serious.
Anything that requires the attention of Mike Pence must be SCARY serious.

Something weird is going on.
The rumor mill on Twitter has been going on overdrive, with various goings-on in the world speculated as being as related to the Pence “emergency”. However, I don’t think these bits of news are linked:
- Putin cancelling his plans for today and urgently meeting with his defense minister.
True, but related to the 14 sailors that died on Russian submarine.
- Pease Air Guard Base in New Hampshire on lockdown after reports of sounds of gunfire.
True, but all clear given, without signs found of any gunfire.
- European Security Council calls for emergency meeting
There is no “European Security Council”.
Also FWIW, there are unconfirmed reports the EU is having a meeting of their PSC, probably in response to whatever the hell Trump/Pence and Putin are doing. E.g.,

Walken, I wonder if the tweeter meant the PSC? It’s certainly imprecise language, and it should be easy to confirm if the PSC, or some rump quorum of same, was meeting or not.
