Black Crowes? Anyone? I’m listening to them right now, actually. “Twice as Hard”, “Jealous Again”, “Hard to Handle” and “She Talks to Angels”. These really got airplay after the MTV Unplugged performance. And there would be a bunch of Unplugged songs, I should think, if only I could think of any more…

Yeah Cause & Effect was a DM soundalike band that had a couple of minor hits during the early to mid 90’s. The songs I remember off-hand are “Another Minute”, “You Think You Know Her”, and “It’s Over Now”. I think the song you’re thinking of is “It’s Over Now” - the sample on Amazon (here) has a siren sound in it.
I liked their singles, but never felt they could really pull a full album. From what I understand, their lead singer died of an asthma attack right before a show touring on their first album and had to be replaced after that.

Pretty much true of all their popular songs, but that’s can be said of several bands. Though I don’t much like those songs - my favorite one of theirs is “So Much for the Afterglow”.
