Sorry I LOL’d at your scary dream.
The worst was about a month ago or so. I dreamed I was washing my hair, and it just started falling out in clumps. I was so freaked out that when I woke up I started patting my head just to reassure myself it was only a dream!
I also have the dream where I’m about to graduate high school, and I realized I never attended one of my classes, so I’m not going to be able to graduate. Back when I was in college, I’d always have dreams that someone messed up my transcripts, so they’d send me back to grade school. And I’d be like, this isn’t fair, I’m supposed to be in college. And they’d be like, but yeah, you have to stay here for awhile.
Or someone’s trying to chase me, or I’m in danger, but I can only move in slow motion. I hate those!
My worst was pretty short and to the point. I walk into a room to find my wife sitting there with a revolver. She yells “This is all your fault!” then shoots herself in the head. She manages to eek out “I’m sorry” before expiring.
Our marriage is pretty well trashed, we’re roommates at best most of the time. She’s a completely different person from the one I married ten years ago. I’ve worried I’m the one responsible. This dream helped me realize these last two things in the worst way possible.
FML, right?
In my dream, I’m laying in bed and looking up at a ceiling that is covered with thousands of evenly spaced dots. I try to move to a different corner of the room but I can’t; I’m paralyzed by the dots that are holding me in place. I’m in full blown panic because I’m trapped.
This dream happened every night until I moved my bed to a different side of the room. Weird. But I’ve always had weird dreams.
I met a polar bear called Nathaniel who was some kind of end of level boss.
Weird. I have something similar. I’m driving along, something happens, and I realize I’m sitting in the passenger seat or backseat. Somehow I’ve been driving this way for a while, but now I need to hit the brakes and can’t reach the pedals. Sometimes there’s a cop behind me, and I’m desperately trying not to kill myself or attract his attention until I can pull off and get control. I think I started having this dream around the time I stopped dreaming I missed the school bus.
One time I dreamed I was in a car accident. At the very moment when the car crashed, I woke up in a cold sweat.
If I experience any kind of discomfort while I’m asleep – like if I roll over onto something hard that presses into my skin, or if I fall asleep at my desk and the keyboard leaves a pattern in my face, or something like that – then I dream that I’m in excruciating pain, usually being stabbed or burned in that area. The dream pain feels just like real pain, only hugely magnified, and it continues until I wake up. Which takes way, way too long. Now I’m terrified of going into a coma.
Blargh, those are the worst! During a rather shitacular time in my life I repeatedly had dreams where my teeth were falling out or where one leg was shorter than the other. Not pleasant.
For a long time I had repeating dreams where my mouth would fill with crumbly sticky goo that I would try to get out and get rid of without anyone noticing. MeanOldLady I thought it had to do with some sort of shortcomings on my part, never considered that it could have been a reaction to external stress.
When I was pregnant I used to dream quite often that I drank a huge quantity of alcohol, then remembered I was pregnant. Those were total “Oh shit!” dreams.
When I was really fat I would dream that I was thin and trying on dresses and looking fantastic. Those were a huge bummer to wake up from. Then when I lost 100 pounds I would dream that I was fat again. Now that I’m maintaining at about 70 pounds below my highest weight I never dream about body size. It’s nice.
I’m a teacher and I have a recurring nightmare of being stabbed by one of my students. Never to death but its always a wake up holy shit dream. Also it’s always an actual current or past student but never the same one.
The nastiest one I had was in Korea.
I was on my way back from the US Consulate with some fellow English teachers and one of them said, “Hey, let’s eat lunch at this restaurant” that she had randomly chosen along the route. We sat down in this hole-in-the-wall place that was clean and well-lit and seemed to be run by a couple widows. We order the special-for-the-day and learned how to say “Thank you” in Korean.
The special-for-the-day was cold beige noodles in a warm broth that included bits of spicy red pepper. I was okay, not incredible; I’ve never been a hot-spice lover and this meal didn’t change my preferences. But we had ordered it and I finished every bit like a good boy.
That night I had a dream that I was in that same restaurant eating from the same bowl – only it wasn’t noodles but live earthworms (the broth was worm-juice and worm blood). I was having trouble swallowing so I coughed and choked and woke up.
I remember the cold sweat, glancing at the clock, and thinking, “Whew! Glad that was a dream! Glad nobody dreams the same nightmare twice!”
Half an hour later, I woke up in a cold sweat again – from the exact same dream!:smack:

Every year since I started teaching, I’ve had a dream I die and fall down right infront of my students. The students, I teach prek, are never phased by it.
Until I was about 11, I would regularly have dreams where my bed turned into a tub. Nothing was suspending me. So, I would drown. It always fun waking up from that and gasping for breath.
I have the teeth one too when I’m stressed. Last night I had a new variant on the ‘late-and-unprepared-for-the-exam’ dream. I was pregnant (OMG, I was huge!) and about to give birth, but I hadn’t been to any Lamaze classes or read any books. Someone kept asking me about birthy things and I had no answers.
I used to get the dream where I’m chewing a massive wad of bubble gum and I’m trying to get it out of my mouth and can’t - I’m pulling out chunks but the wad in my mouth never seems to get any smaller. Then the gum sticks to my teeth and my teeth fall out. So I’m spitting out teeth along with wads of gum.
I had the “suddenly things get weird when driving” dreams too, mostly around the time when I was learning. There was one where for some reason I was speeding and ran a red light then saw the cherries behind me and when I pulled over I realized I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt. Woke up in a cold chill.
Never wanted children, never been pregnant. I had an extremely vivid dream that I met my daughter and son, who informed me that, since I didn’t have them, he was born to someone else and my daughter ended up being his daughter.
I woke up totally freaked.
As a child I once had a dream where my father was burning sticks in a drum (this was a real activity) and it suddenly tipped over causing an inferno across the property and I had to run through the flames. I woke up wedged between the bed and wall on top of the hot baseboard heater.
I sometimes have dreams where I’m being chased, maybe by a crazy person with a knife or an animal, and I have to execute some of those matrix style long jumps and huge falls to get away. I’m kind of running in slow motion too, but the funny part is that I’m not actually panicked. It’s a very matter of fact type of situation, I need to run, or I get stabbed… I guess I’ll keep running.
