Congratulations, LOUNE! And good luck, Count Blucher!
I make a point of starting my life over every 10 years or so. I’m doing it this year, actually. Eventually I’ll get it right.

Well, I could completely fizzle out, get fed up with capitalism and run away from it in 6 months. That wouldn’t be much fun, and in that case, I’d end up giving handjobs for yummy sandwiches.
Good for you! Jobs are good for…um, like income and stuff.
Woo hoo!!! Congratulations, LOUNE! You may now resume your payments to the MMP retirement fund. Also, we’ll appreciate the free financial advice.
GT
They’re also good for taking away my valuable Doping time, Miss Squash.
grumble grumble Yeah, I know…Social Security…
They’re taking away your unemployment check too. (the Nerve! )
Heh. Um, I’ll make more in a few days than I’d make with Unemployment.
Congrats! Here’s to success and happiness in your new job!
As already has been mentioned, you’ll need to start ponying up to the MMP retirement fund again.
Thanks much. grumble Yeah, I know. I’ll keep working on winning the lottery, too.
About damned time, ya slacker!
You’re telling me! When’s the next Dopefest?
Yay for you LOUNE! I started my new job with Miller Brewing this past Monday. New, different and so far exciting. Waaaaaaay different from anything I’ve ever done before. Like you, I’m there because a friend mentioned it to me and put in a recommendation.
I’m a beer brewin’ bear!
Good for you, swampy. Are you encouraged to sample your wares?
In this new world, almost everybody will be changing careers multiple times during their lives. Schooling or training will be part of your future. Get used to it. Stay flexible.
Just like in the Stephen King/Peter Straub story! Cool, mang!
Congratulations, LOUNE. I’m working on a new career, and it sure is different than just sticking with the old one (read: scarier). It has great potential, so I’m girding my loins and going for the gusto.
Cheers
Well, it could be a blessing in disguise for you. Your loins may have needed a good gording for quite some time now.
Do you have your Series 7 and 66? If you haven’t got 'em, start studying. The exams aren’t hard, but they’re not easy either.
Also, are they giving you a salary, or comission only? Look out if it’s commission. Also, are all your clients walk-in types or do you have to go fetch them yourself?
I do not. I’m getting trained in all those matters. I also get a salary, but the salary goes away over time as the commission (hopefully) goes up.
Leads come from the tax side of H&R. I get the book of clients from the guy that referred me in two years when he retires.
Good luck paying for strippers and cocaine with no job.
A guy in my friends shore house was like “I’m 28 and a bartender living with my parents and all I do is drink and party…I need to get a real job and start a real life”. My friend and I were like “we have real jobs and ‘real lives’ (kinda)…do we look happy about it?”
