Or, how one simple letter to the editor questioning the Mississippi Baptist Convention can get you in a lot of hot water with some brain dead, die hard, members of the SBC collective.
This is the letter I wrote to the Clarion Ledger, the local paper, you tell me if it’s that inflammatory.
So far, I’ve gotten 4 favorable responses to one not so nice response. Here is the result of the recent meeting of the Mississippi Baptists. All they did was affirm unity and refuse to adopt the statement. Not a single question.
[sub]not sure if this pointless or should be in another area, feel free to move it.[/sub]
But if I get them to think, and maybe stir up debate, maybe we can get some people to stop blindly following SOP and actually think for a change.
Nah. Nothing inflammatory there. “Lack of compassion” “favor. . . insensitive” “they are scared.” That’s just brimming with calm and spirit balm.
I think your letter looks fine and you made your (valid)
points. I’m not sure why you would think that any of your targets would not feel insulted or flamed, however.
The fact that responses are running 4:1 in your favor would indicate that you have not alienated the entire community and that you have a chance of recruiting people to your “side.”
However, you did ask if it was inflammatory. While it wouldn’t rate as a great flame in our Pit, it is hardly a gentle example of encouragement and consolation.
